Cherish

Here is an artist I admire, Miep van Riessen. She was also featured in the book Textile is alive!
I especially like the upper one, called 'Verdronkenen' (in English The drowned ones). It represent the islands of Zeeland in the Netherlands. When you take a closer look you'll see the names of all the 1836 victims of the flood disaster in 1953. My family went through this disaster as well, I can remember all of their stories. They survived, but so many other people didn't. So this beautiful artwork is a wonderful way to cherish those we lost.
